Children’s Ministry Mission Statement:
Welcome to Children’s Ministry! Our prayer is that your child will experience the love of Jesus Christ and grow in the wisdom and knowledge of His grace.
Children’s Ministry at Seabrook United Methodist Church is so much more than a program. Rather it is a journey of discipleship with our children. SUMC embraces its children physically and spiritually to share with them the amazing love of God. In play and prayer, reading and reflecting, art and activities, fun and friendship, ordinary children connect with an Extraordinary GOD!
Come and join us in our journey of discovery into what it really means to be a committed Christ follower.

- Seabrook United Methodist Preschool and Children’s Day Out
- Seabrook UMC Preschool & Children’s Day Out is a Texas State Licensed facility which cares for children ages 18
months to 5 years. We offer many different opportunities for your child to learn as they have fun. The interactive,
developmentally appropriate activities in our learning centers spark a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Each
classroom includes art, math, block, dramatic play, writing, and library centers. These centers promote independence
in a child, fosters decision making, and develops language and social skills. We also include music classes each week.
- Our weekday ministries offers your child the opportunity to grow and learn. Our low teacher to children ratio allow
our staff to interact with your child in a loving, Christian atmosphere. Our goal is to provide a program that will further
the growth and development of the whole child: emotionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Our desire is for
each child to feel successful in a variety of activities that are interesting as well as challenging.
- Call Director Margie Runyon at 281-326-1970 for more information.
- Nursery
- Ages 4 years and under
- A nursery is available for toddlers and infants during all Sunday morning Worship services and Wednesday night hand-bell and choir practices.
- If a nursery is needed for other occasions, please contact the church office.
- SUMC Sunday School
- Pre-K – 5th grade
- Every Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- We offer a religious education where children “learn” God's kindness, favor, love, and forgiveness. Our devoted volunteers teach the gospel and meaning of Christian faith with a hands-on, rotational curriculum on an age appropriate level.
- Each lesson begins with a Bible story/ Worship time for the first half of class, then incorporates a music, cooking, craft or game activity on a rotation basis for the second half of Sunday school.
- We challenge children to develop a more meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.
-
Children’s Worship
- Following the Children’s Moment at the 9:00 & 11:15 Sunday services (Pre-K through 3rd grade)
- Children’s Worship is committed to seeing children enter and grow in a loving and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Children’s Worship is offered at both the Contemporary Praise and Traditional Worship Services. Immediately following the “Children's Sermon”, children are dismissed to follow a guide to the Mini-Methodist classroom. Here, the children will participate in a lesson and craft/activity to learn about God, Jesus, and the Bible through the kind words of our loving volunteers. The children will remain in the classroom throughout the remainder of the Worship service.
- If any child wishes to remain with their parents, a Worship Bag with crayons and activity pages is available in the Narthex as you enter the service. Please feel free to pick one up for your child and return it at the end of each service.
- Children’s Choir
- The Light Brights for 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th grade

with our children
Dear Parents and Friends:
It was fun to watch you all ice skate last Wednesday. We had 16 kids on the ice and 3 parents. There were 4 adults watching. Thank you to all the parents who helped chaperone this week.
This coming Wednesday (August 4th) will be wet and wild at the church. We will be enjoying lots of water including a big water slide from Lil' Jack's Moonwalk Rentals in LaPorte. We will begin at 9 and end at 3.
Here is what you need to do:
- Come in your swim suits with plenty of water proof sunscreen on.
- Bring a sack lunch
- A beach towel
- Extra Sunscreen (We will be outside most of the day as long as we are wet and cool)
- A super water squirt gun or toy (we will be having a shootout!)
- If anyone has a slip and slide or a fun water yard toy bring it to share along with a water hose.
Mrs. Kearns has blessed us with all the makings for snow cones so we will enjoy them after lunch.
See you all Wednesday!
Love, Ms. Kathy and Ms. Linda

Seasonal Activities
Easter Festival, Christmas Festival, Scout Sundays, and Fall Festival are just a few of the special programs which include the children at SUMC.

Our Children’s programs could always use stewards.
Here at SUMC, we are dedicated to the creation of a safe environment for the children of our care.
Safe Sanctuary is a protection covenant for our children, youth, volunteers, and staff. All persons who will work with children and youth in our church must attend a special training class and undergo a criminal background check.
Prayerfully consider using your gifts from God!
