The United Methodist Women’s 2024 Retreat

Our UMW’s Retreat is open to all women of faith both at SUMC and other churches. We’ll be at the Lodge in Danbury in Alvin from April 5th through the 7th. And yes, this is the same weekend as the solar eclipse.

The lodge will sleep 40 people with double occupancy. The cost per person is $150 and registration forms are on the wall just before the church’s reception desk. We plan to also get the registration form onto the UMW page on the church’s website. Meals will most likely be a combination of food brought by members with a catered meal Saturday evening. The retreat will end after breakfast, wrap-up, and worship on Sunday morning.

Our speaker will be Pastor Amy Peters who grew up in the United Methodist Church and is now serving Aldersgate UMC in Santa Fe. Her topic will be “Remain Open: Exploring ways we can remain open to God and out call to God’s work in the world”.

Our retreat director is Mary Milby and she is looking for a retreat committee to help make this a wonderful weekend. Please contact Mary at marymilby54@gmail.com to volunteer.

2024 UMW Retreat Speaker

: Amy Peters is originally from Rusk, TX (let her know if you’ve heard of it!) where she grew up in the United Methodist Church. She graduated from Texas A&M with her Bachelors in 2017 and finished her Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in 2021. She is now serving Aldersgate UMC in Santa Fe. Amy has passions for preaching, pastoral care, and community. Her and her husband, Rev. Quinn Peters, met at Duke and got married in May 2022. They enjoy cooking together, going on walks, and traveling. Amy loves joining in community as we figure out together how best to be the body of Christ in the world.
